On Saturday the 7th of March the annual ceremony of commemoration for the 'Retirada' marking the exodus from Spain of Republicans in 1939. Each year the ceremony is held at the memorial stone engraved with "Une des deux Espagne te glacera le cœur" (literally tranlated as One of the two Spains will freeze your heart). Marc Iglésias spoke in Catalan about the tragic events of that time, of which his father Joan, present at this occasion and aged 6 at the time, remembered well.,
On Saturday 26th July a ceremony was held on the bridge between the two halves of Catalonia (Spain and France), to celebrate the opening of the bridge 30 years ago. The bridge was first mooted a hundred years previously ! but the wheels of power ground slowly ! Politicians from both sides, gave speeches in the middle of the bridge, the road being closed for the occasion. The event was well attended and festivities continued with dancing and a communal meal.
On the 15th of December the traditional Christmas meal for the elderly took place at the village restaurant.
The meal was followed by a speech by the mayor then singing and music as well as a sharing of memories and much good humour.

The 10th Spring Fair Sunday March 17th., was blessed with blue skies and sunshine. The many visitors had a wide range of choice from local produce stalls, craft ones, food and drink and pony rides and a tombola. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by an accordion player.
